Updated April 28, 2020
To our Guests, both current and future:
We hope you and your family are doing well, both physically and emotionally, and are safe. We wanted to update you on our summer reservation plan as we had promised to do by the end of April.
We are thankful that the outlook for Missouri is much sunshiney-er (is that a word?) than 6 weeks ago when the worldwide crisis hit us all.
You may have heard that Missouri Governor Parsons will be allowing all businesses in Missouri to open up beginning Monday, May 4th, asking that people make wise choices and follow recommended guidelines. You can read the state’s Show Me Strong Recovery Plan here.
We know you have been greatly looking forward to your upcoming trip to Branson this summer. It’s easy to slip into fear and anxiety with the novel coronavirus news as it is truly an unprecedented situation for everyone.
We want to ease your anxiety about your travel plans and help you to make the best decision for your family.
All of the Missouri State Parks in the area as well as Table Rock Lake, Lake Taneycomo, Ruth and Paul Henning Conservation Area, and Dogwood Canyon are all open. We’ve been enjoying them the past few weeks while here to set up our new Skye Retreat. Fishing is also open without a license, and the golf courses are open.
Many local restaurants are currently serving meals curbside to go while waiting for their dining areas to be reopened. Our favorite Mexican place, Little Hacienda, even installed a drive thru window as well as released a keto menu (de-lish!) — they may or may not recognize us when we pull up for our order each week, okay fine, every other day, guilty as charged.
If there is a specific activity or attraction you are looking forward to, we highly recommend calling that business to find out their plan for opening. We do our best to keep an eye on announcements in the various Facebook groups and business social media pages for the local attractions, but we don’t see them all.
Back to what you and your family want to really know — will you still be able to stay at our places this summer? The answer is YES. We want you to know that your reservation is not going anywhere unless you choose to move or cancel it.
We are looking forward to hosting you this summer for your summer vacation. Our housekeepers are continuing their extremely high standards of cleaning and preparing our places for you.
TRAVEL INSURANCE — you CAN still purchase a standard travel insurance policy, up to 30 days before your arrival. The standard policy covers quite a few reasons for cancellation and applies to your whole traveling group from what we understand. However, we do not sell insurance nor play an insurance agent on TV so cannot advise you, nor require you, to purchase it.
Note that all new reservations have the option of purchasing a Cancel For Any Reason insurance policy besides the standard travel insurance policy. You can purchase this when you make your reservation with us, and the insurance is automatically connected to your stay.
With the unfortunate circumstances, we are also offering alternatives to our normal cancellation policy for all reservations between now and August 31, 2020 that were booked before March 14, 2020.
If you feel it is in the best interest of your family to cancel your stay, you may:
- Cancel under the normal cancellation policy of no refunds within 90 days of arrival, or if before 90 days of arrival, receive a refund less the cancellation fee of one night stay
- Cancel under the alternate cancellation policy before 30 days of arrival and receive a full credit of payments made towards a future stay within two years of your originally booked dates
- Cancel under the new alternate option before 30 days of arrival, receive a 50% refund, and if we are able to rebook your dates, we will refund you the other 50% for the dates that are rebooked by another guest
The alternate cancellation policies will stay in effect until May 31, 2020. If necessary, we will reassess at that time.
We have a list of our favorite hiking trails and other activities in our digital welcome guidebook and have been adding more as we explore the nature trails recently. The natural beauty of the area with fresh air and sunshine is our preferred way to spend time, and we want to make sure you know it is available to you if you choose.
We know it is difficult to make decisions right now and hope this helps as you make the decisions on what is best for you and your family.
We very much appreciate those guests who have already chosen to either keep their reservations later this summer or the credit for a future date as this helps our small family business through this unprecedented time.
Nat and Tyann
